ĐÂY BIỂN VIỆT NAM (HERE IS VIETNAM’S SEA): DEVOTING ENTIRE HEART TO FATHERLAND

Such spirit and heart is not only originated from an individual, but hundreds, thousands of youths representing nearly enough all classes of people: pupils, students, labors, overseas Vietnamese, minority people, patriotic intellectuals, poets and musicians from every region etc.

With an impressive number of 1015 Poem works and 417 Musician works sent to participate into the "Here is Vietnam’s Sea"contest co-organized by VietNamNet, Vietnam Musician’s Association, Vietnam Writers’ Association, Hanoi Radio and Television Station and Homeland Media JSC. After many hard examination days on end, Organizing Committee has selected excellent new works to enter the final round.

"Here is Vietnam’s Sea" night occurred on 19 February 2012 at Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace was an extremely magnificent, serious awarding night and sublimated in arts, well worth the heart, love of composers, well worth the topic on love for fatherland’s sea and islands.

Singer Trong Tan is performing his contest song: "Trường Sa, nơi bình minh Tổ quốc" (Truong Sa, the dawn of Fatherland)

The projection room of Here is Vietnam’s Sea awarding night was crowded right from the start. The serious atmosphere and excitement could be found on faces of spectators waiting to witness new works on coastal topic.

This is the place where the songs such as: "Khúc tráng ca biển" (The grand sea song written by Vu Thiet), "Trường Sa nơi bình minh Tổ quốc" (Truong Sa – The dawn of Fatherland written by Nguyen Khanh Trinh), "Tình yêu lính đảo" (Island soldiers’ love written by Doan Lan Huong), "Giấc mơ mùa xuân" (Spring dream written by Nguyen Minh Tan), "Lời ru Trường Sa" (The lullaby of Truong Sa written by Vu Viet Hung)... were staged and performed in front of the crowded public all over the country for the first time. Each work has a particular musical characteristic. " The lullaby of Truong Sa" has the harmony of folk art, " Spring dream" has characteristic of chamber music, " Island soldiers’ love"  is natural and exciting, " Truong Sa – The dawn of Fatherland" is profound and sweet, "The grand sea song" is sacred and grand.

Placing those new compositions beside famous and familiar songs such as "Biển hát chiều nay" (The Sea is singing this sunset written by Hong Dang) performed by singer Tan Nhan and "Nơi đảo xa" (At faraway islands written by The Song) by Trong Tan, the two different musical atmospheres became more prominent. New compositions have brought the seas the breath of recent epoch, have “inflated the sky waves.”

"Khúc tráng ca biển" is the first awarded song to be presented with the performance of the voice that won the first price for chamber music line of Sao Mai 2009 – Xuan Hao. Just like its name, the words are so much grand, woeful and majestic; together with music, they bear in listener’s mind of questions regarding the sea. Although the music is short, only one page, the song and its rhythm seem to last forever, like the love that soldiers devote to Fatherland, never ends.

Along with " The grand sea song", " Spring dream" written by Nguyen Minh Tan also thoroughly impressed listeners right from the first appearance. The song was presented simply by a female voice – My Dung, but extremely moving. Painstaking with each word and sentence, she showed the insistent, nice and profound feeling of the song. It’s a very long time since we last enjoyed such a nice love song regarding the love between a lady in motherland and a lad on in frontier islands.

"I’m dreaming a dream on the bobbing waves/In the sea I find myself a free bird/In the blue sky I find homeland in my heart/With your love, each sand is my skin/Kissing my hair, you whisper: “I miss you and Mum so much.”

The song will surely be a wonderful gift for both soldiers and their lovers, wives who are waiting for them in their native place. Love in distance is seen with a positive look,  no egoist selfishness, no intimateness or sadness. Happiness is perfect in the song.

Singer Trong Tan with the song " Truong Sa – The dawn of Fatherland" illustrated by smooth dances choreographed by Superb Artist Quoc Toan, is also one of profound and extremely beautiful performances. Thanks for this, the work was awarded an award for Excellent artificial efficiency. This is also the only song that was sent to participate with elaborately and nice stage for video clip part, not only recordings like other songs

It’s a shortcoming without mentioning an exciting rhythm filled with questions and answers of " Island soldiers’ love". For lads coming from Vietnam Academy of Navy with marine shirts juggling “Island soldiers say that they are passionate / passionate with  the lighthouse lighting half-way to the pass etc.” seemed to enchant many audiences.

Poet Nguyen Viet Chien is luckily the only poet to present the work "Tổ quốc bên bờ biển cả" (Fatherland at the giant coast) – second prize for Poem sector. The work "Tổ quốc ba ngàn cây số biển" (Fatherland of three thousand coastal kilometers) by poet Nguyen Ngoc Phu (second prize) and the epic "Người sau chân sóng" (People behind the foot of waves) by poet Le Thi May (First prize) are all long-term works, there’s not enough time for performance. Being the only one to present the poem, Nguyen Viet Chien successfully persuaded listeners by a generous reading voice, tough, beautiful and valuable poetic inspiration.

"Where motherland leans back the sea / The children are like waves under the sky / The youth’s rib-cage is filled with early breath / Like an aspiration sail swept to the open sea etc.”

After exactly 100 minutes filled with colors, love and impression, Here is Vietnam’s Sea awarding night ended in a sweet regret. There’s regret that many lovely melodies, beautiful works  haven’t been staged and performed, epics have not been heard. Remaining in viewers’ mind  the smile of authors of really meticulous works which are the heart of musicians, poets such as poet Huu Thinh, musician Do Hong Quan, Huy Thuc etc. who have wholeheartedly devoted to the event at the position of judgment, qualified art works which are presented in the image of naval soldiers wearing marine soldier’s shirts characterized as peace.

And from here, valuable intelligences and love from music and poet works regarding the sea will be handed out, spreaded, co-blow up the powerful flame inside the heart, send millions of fellows, millions of million deeply patriotic hearts hand in hand, around the great national unity: determining not to lose any inches of homeland even the smallest. The sacred land of Lac Hong’s descendants used to be imbued with blood and tears of many Vietnamese generations for thousands of years of country construction and protection: Used to be preserving, firmed and determined, fight unyieldingly, heroically sacrifice to preserve homeland. Those who carry the mission to compose today have shown the responsibility to speak out the words of heart, of the people and recent epoch’s breath in the time we are living in; strong desire to love Fatherland, construct, fight and protect the entire Viet nation’s land. That period, that heart, that desire will be deeply engraved into history etc.
